Classic Aircraft Foundation event was bigger and better than ever, thanks to the addition of the Vintage Wings of Canada’s demonstration showcasing the Harvard Yellow Wings. As satellite training site for pilots during the Second World War, it had its first recorded landing on 8 August 1941, even before the field was operational, and was soon buzzing with the sounds of the Harvards/ T-6 On a cross-Canada tour, The Vintage Wings of Canada’s ‘yellow fleet’ tour is telling the story of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCTAP), which built planes and training programs, as well as hangars and barracks. Canada trained more than 210,000 people for the air war in Europe in just four years. Other aircraft that will be accompanying the tour into Edenvale, will be the B-25 Mitchell bomber and a Curtis P-40. Flights were also available all day for the public to experience the thrill of flying in an open cockpit biplane The Gathering of the Classics will also be hosting a fly-in, were pilots can showcase their private aircraft to the public. People can ask any questions they want and the owners are delighted to talk about and show their airplanes.
